As for the topic at hand I think that for probably the first time ever I have to agree with the PvPers here on their suggestions. Like Aniewiel I primarily play PvE but have dabbled in PvP, hence why I've never posted in a PvP thread before - I simply don't have enough experience of it. Usually I think that the 'elite' tend to voice themselves in a puffed up know it all way which puts me off, however on this occasion i think they are right with their criticisms.

I cannot see how suggestions such as the ones below are not a top priority for the PvP side.

>> Detailed player / guild statistics

>> Various ladders with decay, etc

>> re-evaluation of skills

A system like the stats database for UT mixed with the char database of eq2 would be fantastic, I'd eevn pay a quid a month for something like that. The only thing i disagree on so far is UAS but that's been catagorically ruled out anyway.

EDIT: Xellos got me thinking about PvE challenges and I thought maybe something like the mad cow level from diablo but with it set as you holding back the char with a team of 8, gradually overtime the spawns of char get greater and great rushing at you, your survival time is recorded last 5 mins you get x2 xp last 10 you get x3 last 15 get a cool chest of gold drops? and the best time ever is recorded for posterity on the website to beat?
btw nice post

and I agree they need more PvE missions without linear goals...

such as every mission shouldnt be the same.. there should be some more Replayable single player gameplay types.

Not even normal things but more creative sort of like Starcraft/warcraft usermade map type minigames.

-----

on the PvP side, yeah I think a lot of people agree :\ sucks so many players have already left though
including me

So I'll try again.
Anet said, play the game, quest for free skills, so you will be able to unlock all other profession after the desert.
I'll say to you that I stay in pre-seraing Ascalon until lvl 10  where I quested for free most of my skills, so many that I did not need to buy new ones until Yaks :P
Many skills you can quest for free in pre-searing Ascalon, are only available to BUY after pos-searing, and that is a fact.
Even questing for all my first and sec class, I needed many, many hrs of endless grind to accquire more skills points, to be able to buy signet of capture to grab all ellites for both professions.

So now if I change my sec profession for lets say a necro, I'll need grind for skill points, since I know that most of free quests for that class are available on the catacumbs in pre-searing Ascalon. I'll need to grind for skill points to buy this skills that I could get for free on low lvl areas, that we can not go back to.

The Ellite skills should be available very early in the game, troughout quests only! That would make easy lets say you need such and such skills for this build you go and quest for it, can use even a your main, or a new char to do this.So would be worthed change classes, and would make easy to jump to PVP without need to go all over the game to cap this and that, with hrs of grind for skill points.
Skill points to buy cap signets, is a big issue, and I hope they can see that.
If they can't, I ask how many times you can to this game without going crazy?
Sorry to say, but pve without drops to reward your efforts, is dead as PvP without the UAS and fair faction.
That is a fact!
I play the game as it should be played, now I ask, what I got from that?
2 classes to pvp
A elemtalist anything since I have all air/earth/water/ellites/ Mo
or a Monk anything/El

That is all I have after 989 hrs playing all quests, and the whole game.
I play it that is a fact.

Cheers
quoted for information on playtime vrs unlocking.

an amazing solution that isnt uas is to let each quest that gives skills not give skills for your professions only, but for all the classes. that means that you only have to do the pve once, and you can unlock most of the skills through the quests. same for elites, you can capture for any proffesion. I wanted to get some ranger elites the other day, now im having to run a ra/el to do it.

Crispie - Saying that they have not added an update in almost 4 months is false on July 14 they added faction and much more to the pvp part of the game. Yes we all know that faction didnt work out. Infact on TGH thats all we hear about is how bad the PvPer has it. Thing is it was a hopefull step forward. I belive you even said so after it was implamented. Now all the sudden because they havnt had an update in so long everyone (not just you) is upset about it.

Another thing. Yes there are updates that come through a streaming feed. Yeah they arnt mass updates and more of them are just little fixs . Dont get me wrong I do see things that I dont like all the time such as the limit on farming and faction dosnt do a whole lot but it was a step forward in how things were going. I also belive they should bump the faction a bit more....actually quite a bit more. Am I gonna quit playing the game over it? No. Do I belive its gonna get fixed? Yes.

Eitherway Crispie I have allways valued your input so I know you are only worried about the game that you like to spend your free time playing. I just think we shouldn't start calling A.Net a bunch of Nazi's tell they have truelly said from their mouths that PvP is going to stay the same, because in one of the fansites fridays they mentioned that the concern will be looked into. Atleast thats what I got from it. Trying to remember which one it was. Thats all it takes for me to belive that A.Net really is going to take a look at it. They have fixed numerous things they said they were going to so I doubt that all the sudden its gonna stop with the PvP requests.

"much more?"

what much more?

they added a slow unlocking mechanic which takes years to unlock things.

Yes you can get to hawaii swimming, yes it wont be soon.

The support for pvp is amazing! especially spirit spamming !!!

Perhaps it would be helpful to summarize what exactly the PvP community is looking for. We all know about the unlocking/"grind" problems they see. What else are PvPers looking for modification on? Take all the things you would like to see changed and try to summarize them in one post. Then we can look at them and see where we can go with it.

What I mean is actual content, not exactly features. ANet promised content on a weekly bases, and unfortunately the only content is quests, unlike the promises of missions, new areas, and new items. I guess you could say that Im really disapointed with ANet because of how long they are taking, in comparison with what they advertised and boasted of durring Beta.

Its in one of the FFs, Ill dig it up later.

EDIT:

FF7, last question. Gaile is asked about how often events will happen, and Gaile replys with stating that content, namely events, new items, missions, etc, not just bug and exploit fixes, will be released on a frequent bases. I dont know about you, but taking 4 months just to release 2 areas is not on a frequent bases. Theres another FF Im thinking of and Ill get back to you later on that.

Compared to whom? Considering all they've released in such a short period of time, well done!

Like I said, there is another FF Im thinking of, talks about not having to wait for updates in one big patch, but constantly recieving them. Kinda grinds against this huge content patch that took 4 months to do.

Very, specially with all the negative news like alphas getting booted, the ignoring of PVP, and a high chance that the new areas are going to be like FoW/UW which means no replayability within a month just points at Anet tanking.

Why is it that the only real complaints come from the PvP want it all right now crowd?

Asnwered my own question... lack of patience. Hang in there, Sparky... give the devs a chance. As a programmer myself I can tell you that you can't code by wishing, things take time and there are processes that need to be followed. Depending on their internal structure, a simple release could take three to six months (or longer, if you're IBM...)

It would be nice if someone took a moment to list a few things they're working on for future releases, but trust me, the coders are busy.

Ok, let's try this again. What exactly does the PvP community want? Forget the update frequency, forget Sorrow's Furnace. Let's get back to the point of the topic. The PvPers say ANet is ignoring them. Ok... let's catagorize what exactly they want. We already know about the "grind" issues. What else needs to be addressed to enhance PvP play? What were the complaints of all those guilds the OP said have left? Get the issues "on paper" and then we can discuss what needs to be done.

Read any balance thread. Read quotes for purpose or functionality of pvp, usually they involve ranking and matching systems. Read any post regarding the variety (lack there of) within the pvp missions and maps. Or you could just go back to page one of this tread, take a deep breath, and start over skipping over the counter posts and looking for the suggestions, instead of getting hung up on the vibe occuring here.
